Did you know that pregnant women have been fired for using the bathroom to vomit, needing to carry a water bottle on the job, or asking to sit on a stool instead of standing in place all day? While employers have to make allowances like these for other types of temporary disabilities, a number of bad court decisions have encouraged them to feel they can get away with firing or mistreating pregnant workers with impunity.

It’s disgraceful and unacceptable that at a time when unnecessary budget cuts are decimating food, medical, and educational supports for low-income families, pregnant women continue to be pushed out of their jobs just as they take on all the expenses of having a new baby.

Just because you purposely looked up stories of non-white racism you think that it doesn’t exist?

THIS POST FUCKING PROVES THAT YOU ARE A HYPOCRITE! LIKE WHAT THE HELL! I spent my childhood fearing African-Americans because I was afraid they’d hurt me. Why? Because they made me cry for not knowing a fucking rap song. Because they told my best friend that she and I couldn’t be friends because I was white. Because I was the weird kid. Because they all constantly laughed in my face.

Just recently am I making friends who are black, and that’s only two boys who are sweet enough to realize that the world is a nice place if you make it nice.

You want to talk about prejudice and privilege? How about entitlement privilege? You think anyone cares about the white, cis girl who has been bullied and mistreated all her life? For a post about prejudice, you’re just focusing on the bad aspects because you didn’t bother looking up the ther side. Don’t act like a fucking saint and don’t speak for everyone.

Bolded goes both ways. I’m a white cis woman who was bullied as a child and you don’t speak for me. You think anyone here’s acting like a saint? You’re the one proclaiming yourself a martyr.

Fearing that a child will beat you up does not compare to fearing that a cop will murder you. Crying over someone mocking you does not compare to crying over friends and family lost to the prison-industrial complex. Being laughed at does not compare to being turned down for jobs. How dare you compare your experience to any of those things?

I don’t know how old you are (and frankly I don’t care, you should know better anyway) but I’m 30, and let me tell you what the long-term impact of bullying has been on my life:

Sometimes I feel bad about myself

that’s it that’s all there is

I don’t get stopped and frisked when I’m walking down the street minding my own business. I don’t get followed in stores by people who assume I’m there to steal something. I don’t have people constantly mocking my culture and my way of life. I don’t get investigated by the goddamn FBI because I took a hot dish to a friend’s house. I don’t have to worry that someone is going to kill me. All I have to worry about is some bad memories.

None of this is to say that bullying is okay! It’s not. I sure didn’t like it when it happened to me. But for you to look at this list of horrible things that happen to people of color and think that being bullied is in any way comparable shows a shameful lack of perspective and compassion.

You need to recognize the difference between grade-school bullshit and the systems of oppression that can literally ruin an adult’s life. Get your mind right.
